About Credit Repair Services
These companies promise to clean up your credit report
quickly and easily. This service is at a cost of course,
usually a few hundred dollars.
What these companies aren't telling you is that NO
ONE can remove true information from your credit report.
If you really did miss several payments on a credit
card, for instance, no company can get that fact taken
off your report. Only time will accomplish that.
Nothing can stay on your credit report for more
than seven to eight years (depending on the state
where the account is held), except for Chapter 7 bankruptcy
which can remain on your report for ten years. It
is true that many people have at least one error on
their credit report.
However, all institutions are aware of this and most
take it into account when evaluating your suitability
for a loan. What they look for, primarily, is a pattern
of payment problems and outstanding balances (especially
on newer accounts and loans).
So having one or two negative remarks on your credit
report will generally not affect your ability to obtain
credit. On top of that, you can correct errors in
your credit report ON YOUR OWN -- for free.
If you have $3,000 or more in unsecured
debt, professional
debt help could be the solution for you to get back
on the path to financial freedom. What is unsecured debt?

If you are denied credit
because of information on your credit report, you
are entitled to request a free copy of it for up to
sixty days after you were denied. If you see something
incorrect on your report, you may challenge it in
writing. If the credit bureau cannot substantiate
the record you're challenging, they must remove it.
If you have not been denied credit in the last sixty
days, you can still get a copy of your credit reports
for a small fee.
